Alright everyone. Sorry for the hiatus. My boyfriend came to visit me in Thailand and I was soaking up every minute I had with him. So, I last posted about Vietnam. I have since been to Laos and Thailand and I am now in Cambodia. Laos was fast paced. Ive mentioned before I am on the “highlight tour” as I like to call it. I have met so many people doing the same routes as I am but for months longer in time. EVERY single time they tell me I have seen or done more than them. Sometimes when you have a longer amount of time in one place you don't prioritize seeing things because you always think you have time. Until you don't. I get antsy if Im not doing something every day anyway so this is perfect for me.
My first stop in Laos was Vientiane.
Buddha park has hundreds of statues which appear to be centuries old. However, the park was built in the 1950s overlooked by a priest/shaman who integrated Hinduism and Buddhism.
One of the sculptures has three stories representing three levels; hell, earth, and heaven. Visitors can enter through an opening which is a mouth of a 10ft tall demon head and climb the very steep “staircases” from hell to heaven. Each story contains sculptures depicting the level. From the top you can see the whole park.
The park appeared larger in the pictures I've seen online. It only took an hour or so to wander and see everything. I ended the very hot tour with a fruit shake. Fruit shakes are everywhere in Asia and Laos had some of the best. Now for a quick 4 hour bus ride to Vang Vieng, also known as the party capital of Laos.
